"This last match was up and down, but the girls finished strong," said MCC Coach Hayley Kobza. "We just made some small mistakes that cost us the win."

This was the final matches for six sophomore players: Fernanda Canedo (Cochabamba, Boliva), Mackenzie Anderson (Hyannis), Kallie Cathcart (Holly, Colo.), Emily Barr (Hershey), Heiata Tauota (Nantes, France) and second year redshirt Evie Hopkinson (Spanish Fork, Utah); and also the last match for Student Assistant MaKenzie Derr, (Sutherland).

"I also have to give huge props to our sophomores this year," Kobza said. "They were a huge part of our success this year."

She also said Canedo came out and played a great last match as a Lady Indian.

"We were with her at the emergency room last night until about 5 a.m., when we found out that she has a kidney stone. She played through it today and last night. That takes guts and heart."
Canedo finished the match Friday with 20 kills, 14 digs and three ace serves.

Other sophomores and their final match stat line included: Emily Barr (Hershey), eight kills, one solo block, one assist block, one ace and eight digs. Kallie Cathcart (Holly, Colo.) had six kills, two assist blocks and 11 digs. Mackenzie Anderson (Hyannis) was credited with eight kills, and two blocks. Heiata Tauota (Nantes, France) had15 assists, two kills and three digs.

"Overall though, these players aren't done, this isn't their last match and they are all going to learn so many things from this season," Kobza said.

MCC finishes the season at 17-12.

"This was such a fun team to coach this season," Kobza said. "This team went through so much this last year, but no matter what at the end of the day we were still family.
