The Lake Region State College Lady Royals would travel to Minnesota and then to Iowa to play three NJCAA games in four days.
First up the LRSC Lady Royals would travel to Thief River Falls, MN to take on Northland Community & Technical College. This being the second time they had played the Pioneers it was more of the same for the Lady Royals. They would handle NCTC on their way to a convincing 73-50 win. Defense was the difference for LRSC as they held NCTC to 38% shooting from the field and 7% from behind the arc. Jadyn Pollert would lead the road team with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Steph Miller would stuff the stat sheet with 12 points 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals.
The Road trip would continue as Lake Region would hit the road and travel to Council Bluffs, IA where Northeast CC out of Norfolk, NE was waiting for them. A high scoring first half for the Hawks proved to be the difference in the game. They would score 45 points to the Royals 29 on their way to a 70-57 victory over LRSC. Telesia Manumaleuga would score 10 points and Jadyn Pollert would flirt with a double double scoring 13 points and pulling in 8 rebounds.
The third game had Lake Region State matched up against the home team Iowa Western CC Reivers. The Royals took a 15 point lead into half time but the Reivers would erase that in the 3rd with a 24-9 run that would tie it up heading into the 4th. Vince Lombardi once said, "We didn't lose, we just ran out of time." That quote seemed fitting for this game as a back and fourth 4th quarter would see Iowa Western take a slim 2 point victory 75-73 over LRSC. Jordyn Worley had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Maddy Leaf & kayla Byrne would come off the bench and give the Royals some life adding 16 points and 15 points respectively.
After his teams road trip Head Coach Danny Mertens said, "Obviously, as a coach you always want to come back with a record on the winning side of things. The girls played hard and were challenged all week. I was proud of how they responded. Our biggest obstacle right now is our consistency. As a team we just need to get more consistent in everything we do to help us be successful. We have some off right now but when we come back we have a tough trip to Arizona over Christmas break."
The Royals will play South Mountain Community College on Saturday the 28th, South Plains College on Sunday the 29th, Phoenix College on Monday the 30th and Scottsdale Community College on Tuesday the 31st all down in Arizona.
