Lady Royals Season Comes to an End in Region XIII Tournament

The Lady Royals softball team traveled to Glendive, MT on May 3rd & 4th to compete in the Region XIII Tournament. The Royals went 2-2 on the weekend where they ended up losing to the top two teams in the region.

Game 1 on Friday against Gogebic CC was a 9 to 2 win. Tehani Yamamoto pitched the complete game striking out 5. Madison Foss went 2 for 4 at the plate with 4 RBI's. Yamamoto also was 2 for 4. Emily Wininger had 2 hits. They would win 9-2.

Game 2 was against Dawson CC. Dawson won 7-0 with a strong pitching performance from Alexa Kappel. The Royals had only 2 hits, one each by Samantha Shumway and Tyra Robertson. The Royals did threaten in 3 inning loading the bases but were not able to score. Madison Foss pitched a strong game giving up 4 earned runs against the eventual Region champions striking out 7. THey would lose 7-0.

Day 2 the first game was against Williston State College. The Royals won 10 to 5. Madison Foss pitched the complete game giving up 3 earned runs, striking out 4. At the plate, Samantha Shumway had 3 hits, one a homerun. Tyra Robertson, Tehani Yamamoto, and Emily Wininger each had 3 hits. They would win 10-5. 

The second game of day 2 was against Bay College. The Royals lost 8 – 2. Tehani Yamamoto pitched the complete game giving up 7 earned runs. Samantha Shumway and Tyra Robertson had homeruns. Madison Foss had 2 hits. They would lose 8-2.

The Lady Royals would finish their season with a 13-27 overall record and finished 4-10 in the conference.
