Royals Bounce Back to go 1-1 on the Weekend

Head Coach Jared Marshall knew his team was in for a tough test heading into their first true road trip.

Their first game of the weekend was against undefeated Sheridan CC on their home court. The Generals would pressure the Royals out of the gate and they would struggle. Sheridan would turn the Royals over 17 times on the night. After a big first half that saw the Lake Region trailing 47-21, the Royals would attempt to respond. Despite a better second half where LRSC outscored Sheridan 48-44, the damage was done. The final Sheridan 91 LRSC 69. Jordan Lynn 17pts and Zac Olson 13pts would lead the Royals.

Game two was a chance for the Royals to bounce back. Facing a pesky Northwest Trappers team the Royals worked to build multiple leads. Every time LRSC would extend it, the Trappers would cut it. At the half it was a close one with Lake Region clinging to a two point lead. In the second half the Royals offense would turn on and continue to build on the lead. Lamarr Wood led the charge with 22pts, Zac Olson would chip in 15pts and TJ Mickelson would fill it up with 9pts, 7rebs, 4ast to push the Royals to a 77-64 victory over Northwest.

Head Coach Jared Marshall said, "This was a really good test for us. Sheridan is a great squad that really tested us. It was not a perfect effort from us by any means but I am happy with the way we responded and played better in the second half. I thought our defensive effort against Northwest was much more indicative of us as a team. We guarded much better and executed our offense which was good to see."

The Royals will have a quick turnaround with a game against Mayville State JV, Wednesday night 8:30pm at the sportscenter. They will then load up and head back to Wyoming, this time to Gillette, where they will take on Gillette and Casper on Friday and Saturday.
