Defensive Effort Lifts Wildcats over Royals

The Wildcats overcame a slow start offensively with lock down defense to secure the win over Lake Region State on Monday night.

After trailing 26-20 at the half, NDSCS outscored the Royals 47-33 in the second half on their way to a 67-59 win. The Wildcats held Lake Region to just 26% field goal shooting in the second half and 31% on the night.  The Cats won the rebound battle 41-33, led by Jordan Polynice with eight, while Uhana Ochan and Oman Oman each corralled seven.

Noble Cooper had an efficient night offensively as he finished with 21 points on 8/14 shooting. Duoth Gach continued to knock down shots from the outside going 5/9 from three point land en route to 19 points. Mohamed Kone and Gare Ewefada both added 10 points for the Cats.

With the win, NDSCS improves to 18-4 overall and 4-2 in the Mon-Dak Conference. Their next contest is pivotal in the conference race as they host conference leader Williston State on Thursday, January 31st at 7:30 pm
