Royals Split in Wahpeton

The Lake Region State College Royals Basketball team traveled to Wahpeton, ND to take on Northeast CC on Friday & Leech Lake on Saturday.

It seemed to be a same story different game for the LRSC basketball team on Friday versus Northeast. Trailing by four heading into the half, the Royals came out in the 2nd half and took an early lead. Most of the second half was spent back and forth with multiple lead changes for both teams. However, it was Northeast that was able to pull away at the end of the game winning 84-77. Head Coach Jared Marshall said afterwards, "They made big shots down the stretch and we did not. We are right there in a lot of these games, we just need to find a way to get over the hump and win one." The Royals were once again led by Dion Ford who put up 25pts & 14rebs. Myles Arnold had 11pts & 10rebs, with Steven Rwahwire putting up 17pts to go with 8stls and 5rebs.

On Saturday, the Royals took on Leech Lake. Lake Region was able to jump out early on the Lakers putting up 62 points in the first half. They would use that offensive explsoion to cruise to a 119-82 victory. Head Coach Jared Marshall said after the game, "I was happy with our offensive production today. Everyone got in on the action and put points on the board for us. I wish our defense had been a little more stout. That is something we will have to keep working on." Dion Ford had 26pts 8rebs, Medi Obang had 25pts. Steven Rwahwire had 18pts 6ast and Myles Arnold flirted with a triple double putting up 14pts 9rebs 6ast.

The Royals are now 4-4 on the season with home games coming up this weekend at the Holiday Inn Classic Saturday 6pm vs. Sheridan CC & Sunday 4pm vs. TMCC.
