Lady Royals go 1-1 on the weekend in Sheridan, WY

After spending two days on the road, the Lady Royals arrived in Sheridan, WY. The two games ahead of them Sheridan CC and Northwest CC would not be easy.

Night one they would take on the host team, Sheridan CC. Jordyn Worley, 12pts and Maara Nelson 11pts would lead LRSC in scoring. The game was never out of the Lady Royals reach, as they kept it close the whole way. Cutting the lead to single digits multiple times. A strugglings shooting night would ultimately be their demise, as they would go 34% from the field and 32% from behind the arc. Sheridan on the other hand would go 43% from the field and make 42% of their 3's. The final being Sheridan CC 79 LRSC 61.

Night two would be a much different story, LRSC would jump out to an eleven point lead and never relinquish it. The Lady Royals were led by Jordyn Worley's 19pts and Maara Nelson's stat stuffing 12pt, 9reb, 2 ast, 4stl effort. Scoring twenty five points in the third was the final nail in the coffin for the Trappers of Northwest. They were unable to overcome the large deficit falling to LRSC 75-58. It was an outstanding defensive effort by the Lady Royals that propelled them to victory. They would hold Northwest to 38% from the field and 36% from three.

Head Coach Danny Mertens would say, "That was a solid road test for us. We were really challenged by both teams. Every year I tell my girls, that we need to protect our home court and go .500 on the road, we are going to be succesful. We pulled out the win Saturday. With only one game in the next ten days, we have some time to reflect and improve in certain areas."

The Lady Royals will be back in action Wednesday night, home 6:30pm at the sportscenter versus Mayville State JV.
