Lady Royals Lose to Northeast in Wahpeton

The Lake Region State College Lady Royals basketball team traveled to Wahpeton, ND to take on Northeast CC and Bethel JV in an exhibition.

LRSC's game versus Northeast was close from wire to wire. The difference being the four point lead that the Hawks held heading into half. The Royals were just not able to overcome it. With less than 10 seconds to go and holding onto the ball, Lake Region drew up a set to get a three that just missed off the side of the rim. They would lose 55-52. Head Coach Danny Mertens said after the game, "We had a look at the end. A real good look. All you can really ask for is a chance to win. We just weren't able to get over the hump at anytime during the game. There were multiple times I thought we were going to make a run and they would answer with a big shot or big play." Kayla Byrne came off the bench and had 17pts. Jadyn Pollert had 9pts 6rebs.

The game versus Bethel JV was counted as an exhibition and did not count towards the Royals over all record. LRSC would win the game 70-59. Kayla Byrne would lead the Royals again with 17pts and Averi Ziegler put up a double double with 10pts & 13rebs. Head Coach Danny Mertens said afterwards, "This was a good exhibition for us. We were able to try a few different things and work a few more people into the lineup."

Lake Region is now 4-3 on the season. They Play Northland CTC on Tuesday nigth 6pm at the sportscenter. Then they will be going up against Sheridan College 4pm Saturday and then TMCC 2pm on Sunday at the sportscenter.
