Road Blues for LRSC Volleyball in Montana

The Lake Region State College women's volleyball team hit the road this week to play back to back MonDak Conference games in Montana.

The first game was in Glendive, MT where the Royals would take on the Bucs of Dawson Community College. The trip would start out on a positive note with LRSC taking the first set 25-23. A slow start in the second set would prove costly and Dawson would take it 25-19. The Bucs would use this momentum over the visiting Royals to win the third set 25-14 and the fourth set 25-20. Dawson would win the match 3-1.

Next up on the trip was Miles City Community College Pioneers in Miles City, MT. The Pioneers were coming off a big win over then #19 ranked NDSCS and the Royals were hoping for a statement win of their own. In set one, they had their chances but could not overtake MCC. The final in that set was 25-21. Another slow start in the second set would again prove to be the Royals downfall as they would lose 25-19. The statement win they were looking for was not to be as Miles would finish off LRSC 25-22 in the third and final set. The Pioneers would win 3-0.

Head Coach Brigitte Greywater said this about the games, "We absolutely had our moments over these two games. Just not enough of them. I did not do us any favors in our scheduling with us being on the road for over two weeks now. This conference road trip to Montana is never easy and the fatigue started to show a little bit. One thing I am proud of is how much this team is coming together. They continue to fight for each other every night on the court. We have a big weekend ahead of us in Wahpeton, there are some very winable games for that I know we can get. As long as we don't get down on ourselves and continue to fight, I think we can turn this road trip around and grab a few wins before we return to Devils Lake."

The Royals are now 4-9 (1-2) and head to Wahpeton, ND this weekend for four games in the NDSCS invitational. It all starts Friday the 13th vs. Iowa Central CC at 2pm.
