The DCB Ladyjacks basketball team picked up a non-conference win over Trinity Bible College on Tuesday, February 11th by a final score of 75-55. DCB now hopes to focus in on their last 4 MonDak games and look to get ready for a Region XIII semifinal game against United Tribes on the 26th, most likely in Bismarck.
DCB got off to a slow start on Tuesday and trailed 19-15 after quarter number 1. The Jacks came back with a strong defensive effort in the 2nd period, holding TBC to only 10 points and took at 33-29 lead into the break. A big 3rd quarter where DCB outscored Trinity Bible 25-11 helped put the game away. Sydnie Nelson had a huge game for DCB with 24 points and 8 boards, both team highs. She also made 5 assists. Taylor Keplin scored 13 points for DCB while Lauren Gangl chipped in with 12 and a team high 6 assists. It was a great all around effort by the whole Ladyjacks squad.
From Coach Johnson; "This was really a nice and needed victory. I didn't think we played particularly well in the first half but did hang on to a slim 4-point lead at half-time. We really picked things up in the third quarter and put together a very good offensive performance. Overall, we had a lot of players that scored and everyone got some quality minutes. It was a good team win."
DCB will travel to Miles Community College on Thursday before hosting Dawson CC on Sunday afternoon in the Woodshed.
