Bucs Win Five Out of Six in Arizona

The Bucs headed down to Tucson, Arizona to play 6 games over their spring break. In Game 1 the Bucs faced Minnesota West community & Technical College the Bucs would start Ben Reinker on the Hill. Reinker would pitch a complete game going all 7 innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits and Striking out 15 batters. The Bucs Offense would tally 5 hits. Jace Jarrett(1), Juan Salaverria(1), Adam Korte(1), Caden Fox(2). The Bucs would only plate 2 runs coming on an RBI single from Juan “One Sock” Salaverria scoring Riley Bykonen and Jarret. The Bucs would kick off the spring break trip with a 2-1 victory. Game 2 the Bucs would again face Minnesota West Community & Technical College. Adam Korte started on the Hill for the Bucs. Korte threw a complete game going all 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 12 batters. The Bucs offense put up 5 hits coming from Jace Jarrett(1), Juan Salaverria(2), Daniel Bell (1), Brock Clonce(1). The Bucs brought across 3 runs coming from a 3 run homer in the top of the fifth from Juan “One Sock” Salaverria. The Bucs get off to a hot start winning 3-2 in game 2. The Bucs started the second day of the trip facing off against Going Yard Academy. Keenan Hjermstad would start on the Bump for the Bucs going 4 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4. Arron Tekansik would relieve going 1 1/3 innings allowing no runs and no hits and finally Patrick Reno closed out the game on the mound going 2/3 of an inning allowing 1 hit and striking out 1. The Bucs Offense would tally 8 runs on 4 hits. Juan Salaverria, Ethan Reisdorfer, Keenan Hjermstad and Adam Korte would each tally 1 hit. Salaverria would lead with 2 RBI’s as Reisdorfer, Hjermstad, and Joel Bever each brought in one run. The Bucs would win 3 in a row as they took the game 3 final score of 8-3. The Bucs faced Minnesota North College Rainy River in the first of two games the teams would play. Game 4 saw the almighty Canadian right hander In Zaydin Nyuli. Nyuli went 4 innings giving up 3 runs on 4 hits while sitting down 4 on strike outs. The Bucs Offense stayed busy as they smashed the ball all around the yard. The Bucs scored 17 runs on 14 hits. Riley Bykonen, Teegan Collins, Nick Proffitt, Adam Korte and Juan “One Sock” Salaverria would lead the charge with 2 hits each as Aiden Zody, Dom Phillips, Ethan Reisdorfer and Keenan Hjermstad would Tally one hit each. Korte got the scoring started with an RBI single scoring Hjermstad in the bottom of the second. Later on in the inning Riley Bykonen would drive in Nick Proffitt and Adam Korte on an RBI single. In the bottom of the third the Bucs offense just could not miss. Ethan Reisdorfer would start off the scoring with a 3 run shot to deep left. The Bucs would hit 5 consecutive extra base hits following the home run. Hjermstad would hit a triple; Korte would score Hjermstad on a double; Nick Proffitt would score Korte on a double; Teegan Collins would score Proffitt on a double; Bykonene drove in Collins on yet another Double. Jace Jarrett would interrupt the streak of doubles by getting hit by a pitch. But the very next batter, Juan Salaverria would hit another double, scoring Bykonen. Dom Phillips then singled to left field and brought in Jarrett and Salaverria. The Bucs piled on 10 runs in the Bottom of the third putting them in front 13-2. After a shutdown inning from Zaydin Nyuli the script was set for one of the greatest moments in Dawson baseball history. It would all start off with Nick Proffit getting hit by a pitch; followed by a single from Teegan Collins and a walk from Jace Jarret. And then there it was, the bases were loaded as Aiden Zody-Cayko would step in to pinch hit. In a 1-1 count the ball left Zody-Cayko’s bat and the entire field went quiet as everyone watched the ball fly deep into the Arizona sunset. Aiden Zody-Cayko left the yard driving in 4 runs on a grand slam. Reisdorfer and Zody-Cayko would earn a total of 8 big booms. Boede Rudd would come in and finish things up for the Bucs going 1 inning allowing just 1 hit while striking out 1. Boede Rudd would collect the final 3 outs and help the Bucs to a fourth consecutive victory with a final score of 17-3. The final day in Arizona the bucs would face Riverland Community College. Juan Salaverria started on the hill for the Bucs going 3 innings allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits. Jace Jarrett followed going 3 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 2 batters. Cody Mortenson was the final pitcher out of the pen going 1 inning allowing 1 run on 1 hit and striking out 1 batter. The Bucs would only plate 1 run from some very aggressive base running from Caden Fox in the bottom of the third. The Bucs had 6 hits as Jace Jarrett, Keenan Hjermstad and Adam Korte would each tally 2 hits each. The Bucs fell short in their fifth game final score of 7-1. The Bucs would bounce back playing Minnesota North Rainy River for the second time. Joel Bever got the nod for the Bucs going 3 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and Striking out 2. Ethan Reisdorfer came in relief going 2 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit with 3 strikeouts. Zaydin Nyuli would come after going 1/3 of an inning surrendering 2 runs on 3 hits. Partick Reno would follow going 1 inning allowing just 1 hit and striking out 1. The Bucs offense got rolling scoring 13 runs on 14 hits. Jace Jarrett would lead with 3 hits. Salaverria, Hjermstad, and Proffitt would each collect 2 hits. Adam Korte, Caden Fox, Riley Bykonen, D’shaundre Turner and Brock Clonce would each collect 1 hit. Jarrett would lead with 3 RBI’s as Salaverria and Hjermstad would each have 2. Aiden Zody-Cayko, Fox, Bykonen and Clonce would each tally 1 RBI as well. In the bottom of the seventh Reno would be able to collect 1 out as Boede Rudd would then step in to finish the week for the Bucs. Boede Rudd would throw 2 pitches getting a pop fly and a ground ball to secure the victory for the Bucs 13-7. The Bucs Finish the Arizona trip with a record of 5-1 as the head into conference play opening up at home against North Dakota State College of Science on March 22 at Kolberg field In Glendive, Montana.
