After an opening season win over Williston State College, the Lake Region State College Lady Royals are off to a 3-1 start.
The lone blemish on the record is a 94-55 loss on January 22nd at North Dakota State College of Science. It was a tough road game for the Lady Royals as the Wildcats shot 65% from the field compared to LRSC's 30%. Kayla Byrne 12pts 3ast 4stls & Zoe Ebbitt 11pts 3rebs 4stls paced LRSC.
Next up was Jamestown JV on January 24th. LRSC would control this one from start to finish winning 83-73. Averi Ziegler put up a 17pts 10reb effort followed by Kayla Byrne with 16pts to lead the Lady Royals to victory.
Last night, January 25th, LRSC traveld to Bottineau for a conference tussle with Dakota College. It was a wild one up in the wood shed that would take two overtimes to decide. LRSC pulled it out in the end 84-83.
Head Coach Danny Mertens said, "I like where we are at right now. This team has a lot of potential. We are kind of learning on the fly as we have had four games in five days with another one coming up Wednesday night at Dawson. This is a tough stretch for us. The team has responded and we need to continue to build on our early season success."
